As a childrens heart doctor dealing with congenital heart disease I am very aware that a rapid and accurate diagnosis together with a kind empathic approach best serves the child and family.
Many children are often referred for assessment following the suspicion of cardiac disease but are subsequently found to be healthy. If a heart problem is found following a detailed assessment and diagnosis, an individualised care plan is created to guide further specialist care.

Insured patients
I am a recognised provider with the major medical insurance companies (BUPA, AXA PPP, Norwich Union (Aviva), WPA, etc.)
We can invoice your insurance company directly, providing that ‘pre-authorisation’ has been obtained. Medical insurance firms often require that a referral is obtained from your General Practitioner (GP) as a condition of the insurance policy.
We would recommend that you make contact with your insurance firm prior to your initial consultation. The insurance company will give you a pre-authorisation reference /number which will simplify the process of account payment.
Please bring your insurance details (policy number and authorization number) to the initial consultation.
If pre-authorisation has not been granted prior to the consultation, you will be sent an electronic invoice with a request for secure payment. Alternatively, you can pay by cash or card on the day of your visit and should then forward the receipt to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Self Funding patients
Many patients without health insurance cover now opt to fund their own medical treatment privately.
I can provide an accurate estimate, prior to commencing treatment, for the majority of medical problems that I treat
Many private hospitals require that payment is made in full or a deposit at or before the time of treatment for self-funding patients. The value of the deposit varies with therapy needed and is at the discretion of the hospital providing treatment.
The hospital may require further payments on account with payment of the residual balance in full upon discharge.
Assessments & costs
The initial paediatric cardiac consultation involves taking a history and examination. An echocardiogram (ultrasound scan of the heart is usually performed to image the heart. This does not require sedation or anaesthesia.
If the patient is a baby or young infant, we would recommend bring a bottle of milk or pacifier (if used). For older children, a favorite toy is often a useful distraction.
If a Chest X-ray or Electrocardiogram (ECG) are required, these may be performed at the consultation.
At a follow up consultation, an echocardiogram is also usually performed, results of tests are discussed and patients who have had surgery or other treatment are reviewed.
